I've inhabited many visual "lives“ - operating my own hand-painted accessories and furniture line, licensing designs for various companies, and producing paper goods and children’s furniture in Hong Kong.
Prior to this, I ran my own interior design firm and worked for several other large furniture companies.
But staying at home days on end designing, or coordinating fabrics, lost its charm.
So I jumped back into teaching art and spent 14 great years at local private school in Dallas.
The experience was so instrumental in my seeing just how creative and able students are if I have high expectations, teach the principles of art and not merely tell them what to do, and give them the freedom to try new things.
